NEW JERSEY – It’s often said that freedom isn’t free. Although the US has adopted the Memorial Day holiday as the unofficial kickoff to summer, the day itself is intended to honor those who have served in the United States military and paid the ultimate sacrifice. While originally created to recognize Civil War soldiers killed in action, it has evolved to memorialize those who gave their lives in all wars.
