What is Hometown Heroes?
A movement to recognize and honor our nation’s veterans has been unofficially named Hometown Heroes. By honoring past and present members of the military, we let them know how grateful we are for their service.
Veteranbanners.com helps communities bring a Hometown Heroes tribute program to their neighborhood with our turnkey, super simple process and guidance.
What do I need to do to start a Hometown Heroes program?
Just contact us to let us know you’re interested in participating and you’re whole program can be set up in just a few days.
Who can we recognize as Hometown Heroes?
Many towns’ Hometown Hero recognize members of the: United States Air Force (USAF), United States Army, United States Army Air Corps, United States Coast Guard (USCG), United States Marine Corps (USMC), United States Navy, and Merchant Marines.
How will the banners be displayed?
Large banners, which have pole pockets and grommets in 4 corners, are usually hung from an existing pole via brackets made for this purpose.
How do I nominate someone for a Hometown Hero Banner?
If your town is participating in our program, simply complete and submit the application under their town’s page.

How does the selection process work?
Each participating town follows it’s own specific criteria and guidelines but as a general rule of thumb, eligible honorees will have served in the United States Armed Forces, National Guard or Reserves, OR are a military veteran (living or deceased) who has served in the United States Armed Forces, National Guard or Reserves who has been honorably discharged or died in the line of duty.
The final approval of the application is at the discretion of the administering town and is typically on a first-come, first-serve basis after all requirements have been met.
How long does the process take to start a Hometown Hero veteran banner program?
About 30 minutes.
Where do I hang my Hometown Hero Banner?
Banners are usually hung in highly visible and trafficked areas in town, along the city streets for everyone to see.
Who is eligible for the Hometown Hero Banner Program?
Each town follows it’s own specific criteria, but as a general rule of thumb, honorees will have served in the United States Armed Forces, National Guard or Reserves, OR are a military veteran (living or deceased) who has served in the United States Armed Forces, National Guard or Reserves who has been honorably discharged or died in the line of duty.
Program applicant enrollment is at the discretion of the administering town and is on a first-come, first-serve basis.
How long will the banners be on display?
Banners are often hung during the Memorial day season and Armed Forces Day-Veterans Day season but this may vary.
What size are the banners?
Banners can be sized to your preference, but our most common banner sizes are:
- 18″ x 36″
- 24” x 48”
- 24” x 60”
How long does it take to receive the banner?
About a week.
Can I purchase more than one banner?
We offer street-sized and personal-sized banners for sale should you wish to purchase a copy for personal use.
